[/i] is fairly simple.OUT OF CHARACTERJoining
-Sign up as whatever you want,
-post your application in the pending section, and then
-change your display name to the first and last name of your character.
-- Once you are accepted, you may begin playing!
If you are not accepted,
Read over what the staff member had to say and modify your app. If you took our advice and made the correct changes, you will be accepted and titled.
Follow common sense.
-Be kind and respectful to others when not in character. We don't want to have anyone being rude or starting fights in the OOC or the Cbox, because then that takes the fun out of this, and roleplays are, in essence, a game. It's supposed to be fun for everyone, so let's just relax and play!
If it happened in the game, keep it in the game.
-Just because your characters clash or are at each others throats does not mean you need to get upset with a player. It is most likely not their personal thoughts on you or your character.
Language and Mature Topics
-We do not expect every character to be innocent and completely against swearing. All we ask is that if your character cusses, please don't make it every other word.
-We also understand that people have sex. If you're going to roleplay them getting into that, we ask that you fade to black in the forum. You can roleplay it in private elsewhere, justnot on-site in any way, including PMs.
It's a violation of Proboards ToS, so we don't need explicit sexual material here.
-Even if you're fading to black, we ask that you put [m] in the title or put a warning at the top of the first post in the thread, thank you.
Activity Checks.
We all hate them, I know. But we want to keep the site active and keep play-bys available for those joining the site.
-We will be posting an activity check every month that we expect you to post in with the names of the characters you are keeping.
-If you've posted in the absence board saying that you will not be getting online, we will automatically keep your character without your post in the check.
Posting.
We don't have a strict word limit here. All we ask is that you post enough that your partner has enough to reply with.
-Somewhere around two paragraphs or more would be appreciated. No one-liners.
-If we are informed that you are excessively posting short posts that give nothing to reply to, we will ask you to start posting more. We don't want to have to have a strict word limit, so please don't make us enforce one.
Claims.
-Even before you are accepted, you need to check the face claim. Please, don't try to apply with a play-by that's already taken.
-Unless the both of you have established that they are twins and confirmed it with the staff that it makes sense and is allowed, find an available pb. If you can't think of one, ask in the cbox. Our members would be more than willing to help you out.
-With all that being said, once you are accepted, post in the face claim. Also be sure to post in the housing request thread so that your character has a place to live.
Threads and Characters.
-You may be in as many threads as you can handle, as long as you're keeping them active.
-You may have as many characters as you can handle, though we do expect you to get your first character active and moving before making a second one.
-To ensure this, you must get at least TWO posts in reply to someone else in a single thread before making a new character. Please, don't make ten characters and only play one. It's not fair to people that could be using those pbs.
School Holidays and Breaks.
-Your character can not be in two places at once. By this, I mean that when the school has summer break, winter break, spring break, or any school holiday, if your character says they went home for the holidays in one thread, they CAN NOT start a new thread at the school until they come back from being HOME. Plain and simple. They can't be at the school AND at home during break.
-If you were already in a previous thread at the school before break, you may continue it. That doesn't matter. What we are saying is do not start a new one at the school as though they didn't go home if you clearly have a thread at home that says they went home. Common sense.
Admins and Staff are not always right.
Whaaat? You mean we aren't god? We're human too? Yep, we are. Despite the fact that we run the site, we make mistakes, too.
-If you truly think that the staff has made a mistake or wronged you or another character in some way, you can tell us. Politely. If you come to us and say that you truly think we were wrong in a certain situation and tell us in a way that's not bullying us, we aren't going to get mad. We won't bite you or hit you or yell at you. We, as an entire staff, will have to re-evaluate whatever decision it was that you think we did wrong and, as a staff, will decide whether you were right or if it is going to stay how it is. Seriously. Don't be afraid to tell us when we are wrong. We are human, too. We only expect that you give us the same amount of respect that you'd want from us in doing so.[/size]
IN CHARACTER
Just to be clear, we do not expect these rules to be actually followed, if your character is a rule breaker. This is basically just an outline of the rules your character would be told to follow upon arriving at the school.
Dormitories.
-No guys in the girls-only dormitories after 6PM and vice versa. There is a wall that separates the two halves of the dormitories, therefore there is no reason that the opposite gender should be in the wrong side after the set time.
Sex, Alcohol, Drugs, and Violence.
-None of it. All are prohibited. If we catch you doing any of these things or have significant proof that you are doing so while at the school and on school grounds, you will be calling your parents and you will tell them why you have been suspended or expelled from the school.
Classes.
-Go to all required classes (History, English, Science, and Math classes) as well as any you sign up for as an elective.
Leaving School and Curfew.
-You may leave the school at any time, as long as you have been keeping up your grades and going to classes.
-You must sign out at the front desk and sign back in when you get back.
-Leaving school grounds without a staff member accompanying you is a privilege. If we so find that you are abusing this, it will be taken away.
-All students must be back in their dormitories by 10PM and shall not leave their dormitories until 6AM at the earliest.
Cars.
-Students that can drive and have cars here at the school must park in the student parking lot. We do not want you parked in the staff lot or somewhere on the grass.
Consequences.
-Any rule-breaking you do will end in a consequence if the principal or other school staff finds out.
-These can be as easy as a warning to as serious as an expulsion. We suggest you follow all rules, because you will be forced to call parents and notify them if you get so much as a suspension.

REVISION
Out of Character
Joining
- Sign up with whatever username you'd like - you can always change the display name later! Your first account will be your player account, so this should generally be the name that you are using in the cbox (or something similar enough to be recognizable).
- Once your player account is made, you can make the account for your first character! Again, username can be whatever you'd like, but please change the display name to your character's first and last name with proper capitalization once you're registered.
- Check the face claim before you apply! Applying with a taken or reserved face claim will cause your app to be pended, and it will just be unnecessary time wasted for everyone involved. The only exception to this rule is if both players have decided to join with identical twins. If your favorite face claim is taken and you can't think of another, no worries. Just head over to the cbox for help finding an available one that fits your character's image - members will be happy to help!
[li]Post your application in the Pending Applications section. If you aren't finished with it just yet, no problem! Just put [WIP] in the title. Once you're satisfied with the application, take that out of the title and bump the thread to let us know that it's done.- If you aren't accepted at first, don't worry. Just read over what the staff had to say about the app and make the necessary changes. Once that's done, bump the application to let us know.
- As of right now, there is no rule as to how many characters you can make. However, this can and will change if members take advantage of our leniency. As far as a post requirement goes, we ask that you have TWO posts in response to another character in a single thread before making a new character. It's not fair to other players if you're making tons of characters, only active on one, and taking up face claims that could be used by someone else.
- Once you are accepted, fill out the necessary claims. Once that's done, you're free to make a plot page and begin playing!
Respect
- We don't want any fights or drama happening between players. We understand that not everyone gets along with everyone, but please keep that to yourself. If you have a serious issue with another player, contact the staff and let us handle it. Roleplaying is supposed to be fun, so let's keep it fun for everyone!
- If it happened in character, keep it in character. Just because someone's character doesn't like your character, doesn't mean the player doesn't like you (or your character). It's just a story, and all the best stories include enemies.
- As far as explicit material goes, keep it mild. Violence, sex, and drugs happen. We get it. But explicit material is a violation of Proboards ToS, so we'd like to not actually see it happen, you know? Fade to black when the situation escalates. By all means, continue the action off the forum if you'd like, but this means strictly off the site. Not even in PMs. And when "fading to black" becomes necessary, we ask that you put an [m] in the title of the thread.
- As far as potentially triggering material, we ask that you put a [TW] in the title of the thread and explain what the trigger is, either in the thread description or at the top of the first post of the thread. Triggering material can include eating disorders, self harm (don't be too explicit with this, as per the previous rule), violence/abuse (ditto), etc. We'd like you to be able to further your plot lines in any way you'd like, but keep other players in mind while doing so!
Activity and Posting
- We all hate activity checks, but they are necessary sometimes. If we notice a lot of characters or players going inactive, we will hold an activity check to clean up the site. If you know you're going to be absent or slow posting for a little while, post a thread in the absences board. If this has been done, your character will be saved from the activity check so long as you've checked back in within the last 4 weeks, or given an explanation for a longer absence.
- We don't have a strict word requirement here. Give your partners something to reply to, but avoid one-liners. Action or dialogue has to take place somewhere in the post that your partner's character can respond to. If we've been notified that you're posts are too short and unable to reply to, we will check for ourselves and make a decision. If we find that the claims are true, you will be issued a warning. We don't want to enforce a word count here, so please don't make us.
- Here at SGA, the academy honors school holidays and breaks. This means that students are given the option to go home for U.S. holidays that normal schools are usually given breaks for. That being said, your character cannot be in two places at once. If your character decides to go home for a break, they can't very well also be in their dormitory, now can they? All threads already started before the break can continue, but for the duration of the break, please make sure you are only beginning new threads that are consistent with the choice to go home or stay at the school.
Feedback
- Spoiler alert! The admins and staff are not always right! Everyone makes mistakes, and we are included in that.
- That being said, if you feel that you or another player has been wronged in any way, let us know. Politely, without yelling or attacking us. As a staff, we will discuss and re-evaluate the situation and, as a team, decide whether you were right or whether the previous decision stands. We take all concerns into consideration and try to accommodate as much as possible. Seriously - don't be afraid to tell us if you feel we've done something wrong. We know we aren't perfect, but sometimes we don't see it ourselves and it takes an outsider to point it out. We only ask that you inform us of the mistake with as much respect as you would like if the roles were reversed.
- On a lighter note, if you merely have a suggestion about how to make the site better for the members in any way, feel free to let us know that, as well! We have a suggestions box under the Arrival Center board for precisely this reason!
SECOND POST
In Character
Note: We don't actually expect these rules to be followed by the characters. This is just an overview of what they would be told upon arriving to the Academy.Drugs, alcohol, violence, and bullying are strictly prohibited. If we catch you doing any of these things on school grounds, or it is reported with significant proof, we will call your parents and you will have to explain why you are being suspended or expelled from the school.
Attendance at all core classes (History, Math, Science, and English), as well as any electives that you sign up for, is mandatory. Additionally, each student is assigned a trainer that is responsible for helping them learn control of their Gifts. All meetings scheduled with these trainers are mandatory, as well.
Leaving school grounds is permitted, within reason. If good grades are maintained and attendance records are acceptable, students will keep the privilege of being allowed off the grounds. You must sign out at the gate and sign back in when you return. Leaving the grounds without being accompanied by a staff member is a privilege - if you do not hold this privilege and have a serious need to leave the grounds, you must speak to an administrator and convince them to accompany you. You will be notified if the privilege to leave on your own is taken away. Additionally, if administrators perceive any serious threat of violence to the Gifted in nearby areas, permission to leave the grounds may be temporarily barred for all students, for their own safety.
Curfew is in place for all students. No boys will be permitted in the girls-only dormitories after 9PM, and vice versa. All students must be in their own dormitory buildings by 10PM on school nights. No sleepovers are permitted on school nights. Co-ed sleepovers are only permitted in the co-ed dormitories. On Fridays and Saturdays, all students must be in a permitted dormitory building for the night by midnight.
Student cars are permitted on campus, in the student lot, with a student parking pass visible in the windshield. These parking passes are free and may be obtained in the administration offices. No students are to park in the staff lot or anywhere on the grass.
Guests must be approved by the administration office before their arrival. Once they have arrived, they must sign in at the front gates, where officers will ensure that they have been placed on the approved guest list. They must park in the guest parking lot. Guests are included in the sleepover rules, meaning that they cannot stay the night on school nights, must be of the same sex as the student to sleep in the girls-only or boys-only dormitories (parents and sibling are exempt from this rule), and must leave the grounds by 9PM on Sunday night.
Consequences for breaking any of these rules could be as mild as a warning to as severe as an expulsion. Parents are not notified of first warnings, but will be notified if the student's behavior becomes habitual, risks suspension/expulsion, and when the student is actively suspended/expelled. We suggest you follow all rules to avoid needing to call your parents to explain why you're being punished.
