Jason was actually significantly less freaked out than he expected to be. There was actually an air of not-caring around him, and he was sitting relaxed in the metal chair, one arm thrown over the back and tap-tapping out a rhythm that was going along with the song making its way through his mental jukebox. If he remembered correctly, this was actually a song that he had first heard when he was first with Andi, those years ago. How interesting that this should get stuck in his head when she was about to meet him for what was very possibly a date--his first legitimate date with anyone in a few years.
And how ironic that this may be the single most depressing song he'd ever heard. Why did it have to come on the radio right as he was getting ready to go?
He had actually not known this cafe he was sitting outside of existed. The mall was still new and half under construction when he left, so the majority of what was now in it was unfamiliar to him. What had happened when he had discovered this place existed was on Friday, he and Andi had to work together to calm a kid down that was making sweets go boom. Exploding candy corn was not something Jason ever thought he would have to deal with, and not something he thought he would be grateful for, but he did and he was. Jace owed the kid one, because by creating the commotion he did, they needed to call in a Trainer. And the only available trainer at the time had been one Andi Thalis, who had helped Jace calm the kid down and then allowed him to ask about when/where she wanted that date. After apologizing for not telling her that they worked together, of course.
That had only been a tiny mistake on his part, the not-telling. Something he really, really hoped she could completely forgive him for.
Seeing Andi approach, Jace stood and waited for her to reach the table, holding her chair out for her. "Hey there. You look great." He smiled, hoping she would take this well.
